Draymond Green believed ex-Cavs reporter covering Warriors was spy

The Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers faced off in four straight NBA Finals from 2015 to 2018.

As you can imagine, the rivalry was fierce. In fact, it was so intense that Draymond Green was skeptical of a certain media member.

"I remember when I went to Golden State, Draymond (Green) was a little bit iffy on me initially," Yahoo's Chris Haynes said Wednesday on "The Bill Simmons Podcast. "He was like, 'Oh, you're a spy. You were sent over here by the Cavs (laughter).'

"He was serious."

That truly is laugh-out-loud funny, and not surprising when it comes to the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year.

Haynes was the Cavs beat writer for Cleveland.com during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, and then he began covering the Warriors for ESPN soon after Kevin Durant joined the Dubs.

Haynes admitted that he didn't want to take the job in the Bay Area because he was concerned about the perception of jumping ship to the Cavs' rival in the middle of the battle. He also told a hilarious story.

"I didn't hear from LeBron the whole time since I left to go cover the Warriors," Haynes said. "It was Christmas Day (2016) -- Warriors vs Cavs in Cleveland. I'm walking to the media room at halftime and LeBron is walking off the court going into the locker room.

"He sees me and yells, 'You trading a-- blah blah blah' (laughter). And then at the end of that game, I tried to go in the locker room. And LeBron's security was like, 'You can't go in.' I'm like, 'I can't go in? Isn't all the media in there?' He's like, 'Yeah. You can't go in. Bro, I'm sorry.'

Haynes was able to track down a Cavs PR staffer, who let him inside.

"As soon as I walk in, Bron's just laughing," Haynes said.

That also is laugh-out-loud funny. Great stuff.
