Draymond confident 2017 Dubs would've beaten '98 Bulls, Jazz

The 2016-17 Warriors squad, led by Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, arguably is one of the greatest teams in NBA history.

That's not up for debate.

But how would that NBA championship team do against other all-time great teams? In reality, we'll never know. But that won't stop players of every era from debating hypothetical matchups.

The latest came Sunday night as NBA TV aired Game 5 of the 1998 NBA Finals between the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls and the Karl Malone-led Utah Jazz. That was an incredible series between two historically great teams.

Green was tuned in to the classic game in which Malone scored a game-high 39 points to lead the Jazz to an 83-81 win at United Center.

In Green's mind, there's no way those Bulls or Jazz would have beaten the 2017 Warriors.

As Green noted, the styles of play in each era was completely different. During the 1990s, the 3-point shot wasn't relied on heavily. The Bulls took 88 shots from distance during the series against the Jazz, while Utah took just 60.

In the 2017 NBA Finals, the Warriors took 186 3-pointers while the Cleveland Cavaliers, led by LeBron James, took 173.

Neither the Bulls or Jazz reached 100 points in any game during the 1998 NBA Finals and the 90-point barrier was reached just twice, both times by Chicago. In 2017, the Warriors scored at least 113 points in all five games and scored as many as 132 points in their Game 2 win.

Would the Warriors have easily beaten both the 1998 Bulls or Jazz? Perhaps. But we'll never, ever know for sure, even if Green is confident in the outcome.
