Draymond Green almost assuredly is not going to win NBA Defensive Player of the Year this season.
But he's been incredible on the defensive end of the floor, and absolutely should be named First-Team All-Defense for the first time since the 2016-17 campaign.
"One thing I am certain of is that I can f--k up an entire team’s offense," Draymond told The Athletic's Sam Amick this week. "And so, when you look at the impact that I have on the defensive side of the ball, it’s not always going to show up in blocked shots. It’s not always going to show up in steals.

"But I guarantee you it shows up in your favorite-player-who-I-may-be-playing-against’s mind. It shows up in what they’re able to do, as opposed to what they’re trying to get to.
"I think being able to control the game on the defensive side of the ball [is key] when you start talking Defensive Player of the Year."
Draymond is 43rd in blocks per game (0.8), but he is holding opponents to 45.9 percent on shots within six feet -- which is absolutely incredible, especially for a guy who is 6-foot-6.
You truly have to watch him play to understand his importance.
His timing is off the charts, and he without question is the best helpside defender in the league.

"I am of the belief that someone could win Defensive Player of the Year and not average a steal or a block per game," Draymond said. "You’ve got to f--king watch the game in order to understand what’s going on. You can’t just look at the box score and say, ‘This guy has this many steals, or this guy has this many blocks.’
"People tend to go with the guy who averages the most steals, or the guy who averages the most blocks. And that’s just not what always tells the story when it comes to defense."
