Draymond reiterates importance of Dubs' recent team meeting

It appears as if the Warriors' team meeting before their game against the New York Knicks on Nov. 18 is continuing to pay dividends.

Speaking with reporters following Golden State's 129-118 win over the Utah Jazz, Draymond Green explained to what extent a team meeting like that can do for a struggling team.

"Sometimes, [it's] good to re-check in and understand what a team needs to win," Green said. "You go through these seasons and a lot of things get lost within travel, family, all the obligations that you have.

"A lot of things get lost in that."

The Warriors' vocal leader added those team meetings can help players figure out what their role is within coach Steve Kerr's system and that it's important to check in every so often.

"When you check in, what are the things you're doing well?" Green said. "What are the things you're doing wrong? Who's doing well, who's not doing so well, where do they need to get better at? At the end of the day, what is most important on the team and being successful is knowing their role and can play their role."

By having that meeting, Green and the rest of the Warriors' veteran leadership can figure out how to put players in a place where they can succeed.

"It's just good at times to check in and make sure everyone understands what they need to bring to the table so we can be successful," Green concluded.

Since that team meeting, the Warriors have won four of their last five games, with the only loss being a 45-point blowout against the New Orleans Pelicans that essentially was a scheduled loss as four of the Warriors' five starters didn't play.

Warriors forward JaMychal Green added context to the meeting that could have potentially turned the season around, stating that the team "addressed the elephants in the room."

Additionally, Klay Thompson added that those types of meetings are important because they helped the team "grow" and help the Warriors understand what is needed to build cohesion within a team.

With the Warriors showing they are willing to have tough conversations for the betterment of the team, fans are hopeful that this is what was needed to turn the season around.

If everything goes according to plan for the rest of the season, the Warriors can look back at the team meeting on Nov. 18 as one of the reasons why.
