Draymond believes it ‘won't be long' until Brown ends Kings' drought

Draymond Green has all the confidence in the world that Mike Brown is the right man for the job, whether that be as the interim coach of the Golden State Warriors in the playoffs or as the future head coach of the Sacramento Kings.

Golden State's assistant coach remains undefeated filling in for head coach Steve Kerr during the playoffs, upping that record to 12-0. Kerr tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Memphis Grizzlies on the same day Brown was officially announced as the next head coach of the Kings.

It has been quite the whirlwind week for Brown, who Draymond believes is the right man for the star-crossed Kings.

"Congratulations to Mike Brown on getting the head coach (job) for the Sacramento Kings," Green said on the latest episode of "The Draymond Green Show." "I think the Sacramento Kings are on a (16-year) playoff drought. I have no doubt in my mind that Mike is going to take his championship pedigree, his incredible -- especially defensive -- mind, incredible basketball mind with an incredible staff to Sacramento with him. I think it won't be long before that streak is broken."

As Green mentions, the Kings have missed the playoffs for 16-consecutive years, the longest drought in NBA history.

Prior to naming Brown as the head coach, Kings GM Monte McNair had stated that the playoff drought would not influence any decision Sacramento made regarding its next coach.

Right now Brown's focus is on leading the Warriors to a series-clinching win over the Grizzlies in Game 5 at FedExForum. Whenever he officially transitions to his new role with the Kings, the 52-year-old will bring an abundance of playoff experience with him to a city that is starved for postseason basketball.
