Draymond gives extremely bold prediction on Warriors' titles

Draymond Green is nothing if not confident.

In discussing Steph Curry’s growth on the “Old Man and the Three” podcast with JJ Redick and Tommy Alter, the Warriors’ defensive stalwart claimed that the Warriors would win three of the next four NBA championships.

“I think you started to see it then, that growth and like, ‘Oh man, nobody can stop this dude [Curry] now,” Green said in describing Steph’s added commitment to the weight room, which Green claims began in earnest in 2019.

“And I think that really changed the complexity of our organization. And I’m pretty certain that’s why we’ll win three of the next four NBA championships."

If Green is correct, that would give the Warriors seven championships in 12 years, an absolutely incredible mark that would give them one more ring than Michael Jordan’s Bulls in the 1990s, who won six in eight seasons.

While a lot would have to go right for Green’s proclamation to come true, there is no doubt that the Warriors are well suited to compete for more championships over the next few years after winning their fourth title in eight years this past season.

Led by Curry (34), Green (32) and Klay Thompson (32) – who all showed they have a lot more left in the tank throughout the Warriors’ playoff run, Golden State is the betting favorite to win the title again in 2022-23.

But as their “Big Three” gets older, the Warriors also have Andrew Wiggins (27) and Jordan Poole (23) who have already established themselves as valuable pieces of a championship team, and they hope that recent draft picks James Wiseman (21), Moses Moody (20) and Jonathan Kuminga (19) develop into the next wave of core pieces that will extend the dynasty until late in the decade.

Green’s prediction certainly falls in the “bold” variety, but as we’ve seen in earnest with Green’s “victory lap” this summer – never count out the Dubs.
