Draymond had NSFW response to Warriors-Nets on son's birthday

Warriors

The Warriors will open the regular season on Dec. 22 against the Brooklyn Nets, the organization's first non-preseason game since Mar. 10. In speaking to reporters for the first time from training camp on Monday, star Draymond Green had a simple, NSFW response about the date of the Warriors' first game.

"We got a game on my son's fourth birthday. That f-----g sucks," Draymond said from Chase Center (h/t The Athletic's Anthony Slater).

Obviously Green would like to be celebrating with his son, Draymond Jr., on that night, but the Warriors will be in Brooklyn.

Ironically, the Warriors were playing in Brooklyn against the Nets the night Draymond Jr. was born in 2016, but Green missed Golden State's 117-101 win as he flew home from the East Coast to be there for the birth.

The opener against the Nets might be the first chance we get to see Green on the court in 2020-21, as coach Steve Kerr said early in training camp that he didn't expect Green, who got a late start on getting into camp workouts, to play in any of the Warriors' three preseason games.

Green was back on the court practicing with his teammates on Monday, and Kerr didn't rule out Draymond seeing some action in the Warriors' final preseason game against the Kings.

The date of the season opener seems to be a lucky one for the Warriors, as Golden State has won all three of the games it has played on Dec. 22 since 2016.

Hopefully Draymond can help deliver another victory and keep the streak alive next week, while also getting a chance to spend some time with his son.
