Dray jokes he's buying wine on Lacob's tab for Steph's NBA 75 nod

When Steph Curry broke Wilt Chamberlain's Warriors franchise record for points last season, Draymond Green treated the two-time MVP to dinner in Oklahoma City to celebrate.

Green bought a bottle of 2015 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche -- a French wine that starts around $5,000 -- and put it on owner Joe Lacob's tab.

Well, the Warriors are back in Oklahoma City to face the Thunder on Tuesday night. On Monday after practice, Green said he and Curry were going back to the same restaurant to celebrate Curry being named to the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team and would be adding to Lacob's tab.

"Steph just made the 75th-anniversary team so y'all can call Joe this time and tell Joe that we about to go order a bottle of DRC because Steph made the 75th-anniversary team," Green said. "And Klay's 77."

The reference to Thompson came after the shooting guard wore a No. 77 jersey to practice Saturday after being snubbed from the NBA 75 team. The team included the best 76 players in NBA history (there was a tie) as voted on by a panel of media members and former players.

Thompson was vocal with his displeasure about not being named to the team. However, neither Thompson or Lacob will be in Oklahoma City to enjoy the bottle with Green and Curry.

"The thing is Klay or Joe didn't make the trip," Green said. "So they can't partake in the bottle. So me and Steph will enjoy it. [Warriors president of basketball operations] Bob [Myers] didn't come, could have had a glass. They didn't come. So me and Steph will enjoy a bottle of DRC tonight. It's going on Joe's tab."

The Warriors have opened their season 3-0 with wins over the Los Angeles Lakers, LA Clippers and Sacramento Kings.

With a more balanced roster and improved spacing, the Warriors look like they will be a factor in the title picture for the first time since June of 2019.

As for Mr. 77, Thompson continues to rehab from his torn right Achilles and is expected to make his return to the court before the end of the calendar year. You can bet another bottle of wine will go on Lacob's tab when the Warriors' dynastic core finally is reunited.
