Warriors-Lakers playoff series ‘dream' matchup for Lacob

Warriors owner Joe Lacob, along with the rest of us, is excited for Golden State's matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals.

The Warriors and Lakers square off in Game 1 on Tuesday night at Chase Center as Steph Curry and LeBron James renew their already-historic rivalry.

Lacob joined Bonta Hill, Chris Mullin, Festus Ezeli and Dorell Wright on "Warriors Pregame Live," where he discussed how excited he is for the upcoming series.

"It's fantastic. It's great for the NBA, it's great for basketball in general and it's certainly great for the Warriors and the Lakers," Lacob said. "This is a dream, in the 13 years I've owned the team, it's kind of one of those things I've wanted to do, is play the Lakers in a significant series.

"I was a Celtics fan growing up, then I was a Lakers fan parts of my life -- not anymore -- but it's very meaningful, it's going to be so much fun and I think it'll be a great series."

Golden State and Los Angeles will square off in the playoffs for the first time since their first-round matchup in 1991 when a Magic Johnson-led Lakers team defeated the "Run TMC" Warriors in five games.

"I am really excited about this series, this is the one you wait for ... the Lakers, they've been a hot team," Lacob added. "They have one of the greatest players in history on that team, who we have a lot of experience with. That's going to be unbelievable, Steph-LeBron and the whole narrative about that. But just because it's San Francisco and LA is enough to be very significant.

"And the fact that it's in a very significant series, the winner goes to the Western Conference Finals, it's a big deal. It really is a big deal. I think all of us feel it, we're excited about it and I can't wait for it to start."
