Steph's five craziest stats from 57-point game vs. Mavs

We're starting to run out of words to describe Steph Curry's brilliance. After Curry dropped 57 points in the Warriors' loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday night, Steve Kerr used words like "sublime, ridiculous and unfathomable." Kent Bazemore called him the "best player in basketball." Our own Kendra Andrews made her case for Curry being in the NBA MVP conversation, despite the Warriors being just 12-11.Nothing is more fun than Curry catching fire. Here are the wildest stats from his latest scoring barrage.

Earlier this month, Curry joined Wilt Chamberlain as the second Warrior to reach 17,000 career points. On Saturday, the Warriors' star point guard again had his name next to Chamberlain's.

According to ESPN Stats & Info, Curry joined Chamberlain as the second Warrior ever to record multiple 55-point games in the same season. Curry also scored 62 points against the Portland Trail Blazers earlier this year. Chamberlain scored 55-plus points multiple times every single year he played for the Warriors. He averaged 41.5 points per game with the Warriors. Curry now is averaging 29.4 points per game this season.

This isn't opinion, it's a fact: Steph Curry is the greatest 3-point shooter ever. That was abundantly clear Saturday night when he made 11 of his 19 3-point attempts. According to ESPN Stats & Info, Curry now has nine games with at least 11 3s. Klay Thompson and Damian Lillard have the next most games with, wait for it, two.

Curry now is averaging 11.3 3-point attempts per game this season, the second-highest of his career, and he still is nailing 42.5 percent of his attempts. After a slow start to the season, Curry has proven once again that he's the best to ever let it fly from beyond the arc.

This isn't his first rodeo, folks. Curry now has scored at least 50 points eight times in his career. This also is just the second time Curry has lost when accomplishing the feat. Here's how the Warriors have fared when Steph drops a 50-spot (H/T Marcus Thompson on Twitter).

For the first time this season, Curry scored at least 50 points while making at least 10 3-pointers. This certainly isn't the first time he has completed both feats in one game.

Curry now has nailed at least 10 3s in a 50-point game six times. That's the most in NBA history, according to StatMuse. Klay and James Harden have the second-most with two. This is the first time Curry has accomplished this since Oct. 24, 2018, when he scored 51 points against the Washington Wizards.

Curry now has two of the three highest-scoring games in the NBA this season. His 62 points tops all scoring performances, and his 57-point game is the third-highest from anyone. Bradley Beal comes in second with his 60-point game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Curry leads the NBA in total points (677) this season, but Beal leads in points per game (33.3). Beal is fifth in total points (599), and Curry is third in points per game (29.4) behind just Beal and Kevin Durant (29.5). The two likely will finish within the top five of both total points and points per game by the end of the season, too.
