The Memphis Grizzlies can’t seem to catch a break.
Memphis center Steven Adams will miss at least another four weeks after receiving a stem cell injection for the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) sprain in his right knee, the team announced Thursday. That means Adams could miss the rest of the regular season.
The news comes just days after the Grizzlies announced forward Brandon Clarke suffered a season-ending left Achilles tear. The 26-year-old was averaging 10.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game this season.
The short-handed Grizzlies host the Warriors on Thursday at FedEx Forum without Adams, Clarke and their star point guard Ja Morant, who has missed the last two games and will sit out at least the next four after appearing to flash a gun on an Instagram Live video last week.
Memphis faces Golden State again on March 18, but it's unknown if Morant will be back with the team by then.
The Grizzlies, who were the No. 2 seed in the West consistently since Jan. 1, dropped to the No. 3 seed as the Kings passed them in the standings on Tuesday. Memphis' hopes of taking back the No. 2 seed now have become more challenging with their veteran big man out.

Adams, a 10-year NBA vet, is averaging 8.6 points, 11.5 and 2.3 assists this season.
And now, the Grizzlies, who were once upon a time "fine in the West," could be facing a playoff run without Adams and Clarke while Morant's status remains in flux.
