How Chriss saved Oubre from playing with earrings vs. Cavs

Injured Warriors big man Marquese Chriss insisted he didn't pick up a new role Monday night.

Noticing that Kelly Oubre Jr. was about to take the floor without removing his earrings, Chriss quickly alerted his teammate, who ... entrusted the 23-year-old to hang on to them during Monday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers at Chase Center.

Chriss told Warriors TV broadcasters Bob Fitzgerald and Kelenna Azubuike that he's not trying to make it a habit for his other teammates.

"Heck no. Not me," Chriss said when Azubuike asked if the 23-year-old was the Warriors' designated earring holder.

Oubre scored 14 points, adding three rebounds two steals and a block through three quarters of the Warriors' blowout win over the Cavaliers. The wing was a team-high plus-25 in his 25:01 on the floor, and that's his single-game best since joining the Warriors in a trade this offseason.

If he thinks he stumbled into a new routine, Oubre might insist Chriss does have a new role after all.
