How Steph Curry honored Warriors on limited-edition Under Armour shoes

Steph Curry made sure to pay homage to his Warriors teammates when Under Armour honored his back-to-back MVP awards in 2016.

The company released limited-edition pairs of the Curry 1 and Curry 2 together four years ago in the "Back 2 Back" MVP Pack, which included nods to the milestones Curry had reached in his NBA career at that point. He told B/R Kicks in his "Unboxed" episode published Wednesday that the insoles, which bore the words "compete," "compassion," "mindfulness" and "joy," were direct nods to his teammates.

"It's what coach (Steve) Kerr always [preached] every single day when we were on that climb to win championships," Curry explained in the video, "and I wanted to put those on there to make sure there was a call-out to my team and what we were able to build together through all those wins and those successes and those championships."

One of the shoes in the pack, the "MVP 1," was decorated on the outside with call-outs mentioning significant parts of Curry's journey to NBA superstardom. But Curry said personal awards aren't won "by yourself," and he wanted to make sure his teammates were recognized on shoes commemorating his individual achievements.

That doesn't mean he's satisfied with two MVPs, however.

"Winning MVP was fun, and I hope to do it again," Curry laughed. "Pretty simple."

No player has won back-to-back MVPs since Curry won his second in 2016, when he became the first player in NBA history to unanimously win the award that season.

Whether adding more Larry O'Brien trophies or individual honors, Curry's not ready to close his trophy case.
