Instant Analysis: Mavs have zero answer for vintage Durant
All KD, all the time
OAKLAND -- Aches and pains may nag at the Warriors, but they have not derailed them. That much was evident once again Thursday night, when they ran off with a 112-97 victory over the Mavericks at Oracle Arena.
Kevin Durant scored a game-high 36 points, Klay Thompson tossed in 25 and Omri Casspi put in 17 as the Warriors (23-6) won their eighth consecutive game.
The Warriors shot 60.3 percent from the field and 50-percent from beyond the arc as they once again prevailed with three starters -- Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Zaza Pachulia -- sidelined by injuries.
This was a Durant-Thompson production, with Durant doing the heavy lifting for three quarters and Thompson arriving in the fourth to close it out.
Durant’s line: 36 points (15-of-23 shooting from the field, 4-of-8 from deep, 2-of-2 from the line), 11 rebounds, seven assists and two blocks. He played 34 minutes and finished plus-14.
Thompson’s line: 25 points (10-of-18 shooting, including 5-of-5 from deep) and five rebounds. He played 37 minutes and finished plus-20.
Taking an 80-73 lead three quarters, but with the Mavericks stubbornly hanging around, the Warriors opened the fourth with a 12-6 run to hike the lead to 13, 92-79, on a Thompson 3-pointer with 8:22 remaining.
Thompson scored 14 points in the fourth quarter.
The Mavericks, who led for most of the first half, never got closer than 11 over the final eight minutes.
