Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant will miss at least two games, the team announced Saturday, after he appeared to flash a gun in an Instagram Live video, and the NBA said it is investigating the situation.
“We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating,” NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said.
The video was posted on Morant's account Friday night after the Grizzlies’ road loss to the Denver Nuggets.
The team announced Morant will be "away" from the team for its next two games, when the Grizzlies play the Los Angeles Clippers and the Los Angeles Lakers. If Morant were to return after that, he'd face the Warriors on Thursday night in Memphis.
Morant later apologized for his actions in a statement and said he would take some time away from the team to get help.
Memphis (38-24) currently sits at No. 2 in the Western Conference and has 20 regular-season games left. So, if Morant's absence is extended while the league investigation continues, the Grizzlies will need to work extra hard without their two-time All-Star guard to maintain their standing in the tight West.

It has been a tumultuous week for Morant, an all-NBA selection whom some believed eventually could become the face of the league.
On Wednesday, Molly Hensley-Clancy of The Washington Post reported Morant was accused of punching a 17-year-old more than a dozen times and flashing a gun at him last summer. The story, citing police reports, included another incident in which Morant allegedly threatened a mall security guard and that a member of Morant’s group pushed the security guard.
In early February, Morant tweeted that one of his friends received a year-long ban from FedExForum, the Grizzlies’ home arena, as a result of a confrontation between his circle and members of the Indiana Pacers organization after a Jan. 29 game.
