Lin says ‘no decision made' on reported Warriors contract

Shortly after The Athletic's Shams Charania on Friday morning reported that Jeremy Lin is finalizing a contract with the Warriors, the 6-foot-3 guard took to Twitter to clarify things.

"Whoa...Everybody chill...this isnt what it looks like. No decisions have been made," he tweeted.

It's very understandable why Lin felt compelled to issue this message because Charania's wording had Warriors Twitter thinking Lin snagged Golden State's final open spot on the 15-man roster (instead of the presumptive favorite, Mychal Mulder).

And as multiple reports soon noted, that is not the case. Lin and the Warriors in fact are working on an Exhibit 10 contract, which would result in the 32-year-old being waived and then assigned to the G League's Santa Cruz Warriors.

But even this scenario is not complete yet, and it's unclear when it will become official.

Lin -- who began his NBA career with Golden State in 2010 -- most recently was a practice player with the G League's Ignite squad in Walnut Creek, and suited up Tuesday for its closed-door scrimmage. But coach Brian Shaw told the media Thursday afternoon that Lin no longer was with the team.

"He decided that he wanted to try and explore some other options," Shaw said in response to Forbes' Adam Zagoria. "He played those couple minutes last game Tuesday and then decided he was going to go elsewhere.

"It wasn’t going to be enough for what he needed to happen for him with the emphasis being on our young guys, so I think he wanted to go somewhere where he could have the ball in his hands and really get the minutes and show what he can do in his quest to get back to the NBA."

The G League has not finalized its plans, but all indications point to some semblance of a season taking place in a bubble environment in the Atlanta area.
