Lacob says JK, Wiseman make up Dubs' ‘tremendous' young core

Joe Lacob is hoping the Warriors can do something that never has been successfully done before: bridging two eras together.

Lacob joined Bonta Hill, Chris Mullin and Festus Ezeli on "Warriors Pregame Live" prior to Golden State's season-opener against the Los Angeles Lakers, where the Warriors' owner made it known that he was impressed by the youngsters on the roster after watching them during the two preseason games against the Washington Wizards in Japan.

"But I'm very, very excited," Lacob said. "I even love our draft choices from this year -- I'm really excited about those guys."

Lacob understands that although James Wiseman, Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, and Jordan Poole are very young, he thinks the aforementioned players are "tremendous."

That said, Lacob notes that the current core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green -- though older -- still is "great" and the challenge then becomes trying to bridge the gap between the youngsters and the veterans.

"I know it's a very difficult thing to do, maybe it's never been done, I don't know, to try to merge those two things and have them play together and for one to take over for the other at some point, but that's sort of the plan," Lacob continued.

Ultimately, Lacob wants Golden State to remain as competitive as it can be for the foreseeable future, even when the Warriors' Big Three decides to call it quits.

"We, I, do not want to be a bad team," Lacob added. "We do not want, for our fans in the Bay Area here, to have a situation where we're not in the playoffs for a number of years.

"It's just not acceptable."

Lacob is not the only one that believes the Warriors' young core can carry the torch once it is passed to them.

"NBA on TNT" analyst and Hall of Famer Charles Barkley boldly proclaimed before the game that Golden State feasibly could win the next "three or four championships" if Wiseman, Kuminga, and others, perform well.

Although Curry, Thompson, and Green are showing no indications of slowing down, it is clear that the Warriors' front office and the ownership group are looking ahead to the future.

Warriors fans are hopeful the youngsters are able to develop as well as the current Big Three to keep their championship hopes alive.
