Kuminga reacts to playing in front of Steph and Draymond

Jonathan Kuminga is in rarified air right now. He has an amazing story as someone born in the Congo and then reclassified his high school class to play in the NBA G League.

Now, he's a top draft pick suiting up for the Warriors in Summer League at only 18 years old. Not too many people get to say they were teammates with superstars like Steph Curry and Draymond Green, let alone impress those two at such a young age. Kuminga did just that when Curry and Green recently joined general manager Bob Myers in Las Vegas to watch Kuminga and fellow lottery pick Moses Moody.

"It was good. It was good to play in front of them," Kuminga said Monday on 95.7 The Game's "Damon, Ratto & Kolsky." "A lot of people don't get that chance to play in front of people like that. Just me going out there, playing, showcasing my talents -- it was really good."

Green texted Myers on the night of the draft that he wanted Kuminga with the No. 7 overall pick, which is exactly what wound up happening, and it didn't take Curry long to give the GM his approval while watching him in person.

"We were watching him last night with Steph and Draymond," Myers said Thursday on 95.7 The Game's "Damon, Ratto & Kolsky." "For me, in the position I'm in, it's almost like watching your kids. ... I almost care more what a player might say about him and think about him, because they don't carry that bias.

"But talking to Curry and Draymond, Steph kind of elbowed me and said, 'This kid's pretty good.' And these guys don't compliment easily. They've seen a lot."

Kuminga led all scorers with 18 points in the Warriors' 90-84 win over the Toronto Raptors in the game that Curry and Green watched. He consistently has put up big numbers, showcasing his eye-popping strength and athleticism.

He's right, too. Not many people get the chance that Kuminga is getting, and the extremely talented teenager is taking advantage of every minute.
