Kuminga has funny reason he thinks it's crazy to play with Steph

Jonathan Kuminga still is getting used to the idea of being Steph Curry's teammate.

After all, it's hard to go from playing as the Warriors superstar in NBA 2K21 to sharing the hardwood with the two-time MVP.

"It's been real crazy because ... I'm not even going to try to be funny but I used to use Steph in 2K," Kuminga told reporters Monday at Warriors Media Day. "So, if you're using Steph in 2K he don't miss at all. At all. So when you use somebody in 2K and then you get a call that you are getting drafted to the same team as him, it's crazy. Like, I can't change it. I'm with Steph on the same team. I'm with Klay, Draymond and I really loved to be drafted here, and I feel like I wanted to get drafted here because it was going to help a lot of my game and just grow a lot."

The Warriors drafted Kuminga with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft and believe he, James Wiseman and Moses Moody can be the pillars of the next era of Golden State basketball.

But Curry isn't the only Warrior that Kuminga finds it crazy to be teammates with. The rookie's locker is situated next to Andre Iguodala and Kuminga admits it's a bit strange.

"It's a little weird," Kuminga said laughing when asked about the age disparity between him and Iguodala. "He's somebody I used to watch on T.V. and boom, he just appears. Him being next to my locker and talking to me every day as a friend, as a teammate, as an older brother. So, it's crazy but I feel like I'm enjoying the moment."

Kuminga will get used to being teammates with Curry, Iguodala, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green quickly. With the Warriors opening camp and eyeing a vault back into NBA title contention, the time for pinch-me moments is over.
