Poole, Wiggins' extensions fulfill their post-Finals prophecy

When the Warriors won the 2022 NBA Finals over the Boston Celtics, Jordan Poole went live on Instagram amid the locker-room celebration at TD Garden and told Andrew Wiggins they were "about to get a bag."

Poole spoke his and Wiggins’ contract extensions into existence, but little did the Warriors guard know the duo would receive them on the same day three months later.

News broke early Saturday morning that 23-year-old Poole and the Warriors were finalizing a four-year, $123 million contract extension with $17 million in incentives that could push the total value to $140 million. Golden State then wasted little time as, hours later, it signed Wiggins to a four-year, $109 million contract.

Both players’ extensions are worth a combined $249 million if Poole maxes out his incentives, but both are well deserved, as the two played the most minutes for the Warriors last season.

Furthermore, as the core of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green grow older, the team will lean on Poole and Wiggins to take the minutes from the trio as coach Steve Kerr limits their time on the court.

Poole and Wiggins secured the bag and are staying with an organization with a winning culture rather than testing the market. Now it’s time for the two to show they can prolong the Warriors' championship window.
