The Warriors back on May 19 lost a heartbreaker to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA play-in tournament.

Jordan Poole midway through the fourth quarter tried to dunk on LeBron James.

People still talk about the attempt three months later.

And The Athletic's Anthony Slater on Tuesday brought it up to Poole in Las Vegas.

“Y’all saw it. It was just a normal basketball play," the 22-year-old told Slater. "He’s obviously an amazing chasedown blocker. What would’ve happen had I laid it up?

"You’ve gotta attack the rim hard. Maybe next time.”

You gotta love that mindset.

Poole was great for the Warriors over the final 36 games last season, averaging 14.7 points, 2.4 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 23.5 minutes. He shot 35.4 percent from deep over that span.

“We only had an eight-man rotation at the time,” Poole said to Slater. “Everyone was getting a lot of run. I knew I was going to be out there.

"I knew the team needed me the last 36 games or whatever it was. We caught a rhythm.”

And the Warriors definitely are going to need Poole to take another leap next season to reach their potential.
