JTA, ESPN's Nichols have nice exchange after Warriors win

Some media outlets might not know his name, but ESPN's Rachel Nichols sure does.

The host of "The Jump" joined the Warriors' postgame media availability after Thursday night's win over the Orlando Magic, and asked Warriors forward Juan Toscano-Anderson about getting to represent his hometown team each and every day.

But Toscano-Anderson was awed by the fact that Nichols logged onto the Zoom to ask him a question.

"First, shout out to you Rachel, this is pretty dope, I'm actually doing an interview with you," Toscano-Anderson told Nichols following the game.

Toscano-Anderson was thrilled about getting to wear the Warriors' new Classic uniform, a blue version of the organization's iconic "The City" jerseys.

"Tonight was the first time I wore our blue jerseys, so that was pretty cool. And I've been watching the Warriors forever, so that City jersey is just iconic in my eyes. Playing with Steph, watching him hit big shots like that, and then going on my phone on the internet and Bleacher Report and ESPN are tweeting about it.

"I can't even pick one thing, you know, being coached by Steve Kerr, being mentored by Draymond, all these things are super special to me, so I don't take any of it for granted. I'm super appreciative of the position I have in my life, and I just give all the glory to god for keeping me healthy and allowing me these opportunities."

Toscano-Anderson has been nothing if not humble since he made his NBA debut for the Warriors during the 2019-20 season, after years of fighting his way to the NBA. Signed as a two-way player before this season, Toscano-Anderson has been an integral part of the Warriors' rotation of late, especially with no healthy centers being available, as he has started each of the last five games.

A native of Oakland and graduate of Castro Valley High School, Toscano-Anderson is living out a childhood dream by getting to wear a Warriors uniform and play in the NBA.

Clearly the 27-year-old isn't letting his newfound fame get to his head.

Now maybe the folks at those major media outlets will know his name next time he's the subject of a viral highlight.
