KD trolls Barkley after ‘bus rider' comments on Warriors tenure

Kevin Durant is no stranger to the social media clapback.

The NBA superstar is frequently online responding to fans, critics, players and analysts.

His latest exchange involves NBA Hall of Famer and current "Inside the NBA" TNT analyst Charles Barkley, who had a controversial take on Durant after his Brooklyn Nets were swept by the Boston Celtics in four games in the first-round playoff series.

"All these bus riders, they don't mean nothing to me," Barkley said. "If you ain't driving the bus, don't walk around like you a champion. If you riding the bus, I don't want to hear it ... all these guys walk around with these championship rings, y'all bus riders."

Barkley goes on to say that Durant was not "driving the bus" on the Warriors, indicating that he was just one of the bus riders along for the journey.

Durant is undoubtedly one of the greatest players of all time. He also benefited from playing on the Warriors alongside Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, who he won two championships with.

This highlight package of Durant making wide-open shots in the NBA Finals with the Warriors has been making the rounds on Twitter, providing evidence to the claim that Curry -- and the gravity that he possesses on the court with opposing defenders -- was truly the best player and the leader of the team

Durant, of course, responded to Barkley's comments on Instagram by posting old pictures of the Hall of Famer teamed up with other NBA legends, seemingly indicating that he too was a "bus rider."

Having posted his response early Tuesday morning, Barkley and the "Inside the NBA" crew on TNT had plenty of time to respond, and Durant didn't seem to care.

As anticipated, Barkley responded to Durant's posts Tuesday evening before the Minnesota Timberwolves and Memphis Grizzlies game on TNT.

"I could put up stuff about him and Russell [Westbrook] and James [Harden] and Serge Ibaka ... Listen, KD's a great player, only point I was making is that life is different when you're driving the bus."

The whole crew continues to go back and forth, talking and yelling over one another, but it is clear that Barkley did not mean to disrespect Durant.

Regardless of whether Durant was Golden State's best player or not, he won two NBA Finals and back-to-back Finals MVP awards, further cementing his legacy. He helped bring two additional championships back to the Bay Area and certainly is capable of winning another one either with the Nets or whichever team he plays for throughout the rest of his storied career.
