Kevin Durant's 13 most jaw-dropping Warriors games, performances

Share

Kevin Durant lately has been in a bunch of headlines that don't exactly paint the former Warriors superstar in a positive light.

So let's get positive for a second.

Over three seasons with Golden State, KD put forth some spectacular, jaw-dropping performances. Truly, there's too many to count.

But for this exercise, we tried to narrow it down to the best of the best. To do so, we had to include stretches of games or even a whole playoff series on occasion.

Without further ado, here they are -- in chronological order:

1) There was a lot of hype for KD's first game vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was brilliant.

2) There was a lot of hype for KD's second game vs. the Thunder. He was brilliant again -- 40 points (13-for-16 FG), 12 rebounds, four assists, three blocks.

3) In Game 3 of the 2017 Western Conference Finals against the Utah Jazz, the Warriors were clinging to a one-point lead midway through the fourth quarter. Durant proceeded to score 11 points down the stretch and finished with 38 in a 102-91 win.

4) The entire 2017 NBA Finals vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers:

Over the five games, Durant averaged 35.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.0 steals, while shooting 55.6 percent overall and 47.4 percent from deep. He was named NBA Finals MVP.

6) With Steph Curry sidelined for 11 games in December 2017 because of a sprained ankle, Durant carried the Warriors to a 9-2 record. Over a five-game stretch in that span, he averaged 34.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 3.0 blocks, while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 41 percent from 3-point territory.

7) The Warriors' final game before the 2018 All-Star break was on Valentine's Day in Portland. Durant racked up 50 points (17-for-27 FG), seven rebounds and six assists.

8) In Game 7 of the 2018 Western Conference Finals vs. the Houston Rockets, Durant scored 21 of his game-high 34 points in the second half as the Warriors won on the road to advance to their fourth straight NBA Finals.

9) The whole 2018 NBA Finals against the Cavs. In the four-game sweep, Durant averaged 28.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 7.5 assists and 2.3 blocks. He shot nearly 53 percent overall and 41 percent on 3s. In Game 2, he scored 43 points on just 23 shots. Insane. He was named NBA Finals MVP again.

10) On Oct. 26, 2018, the Warriors played at the New York Knicks. There was a lot of anticipation for this game because the "KD to the Knicks" speculation had already begun. In the end, Durant joined the Brooklyn Nets. Poor Knicks fans:

11) How about this three-game stretch:

-Nov. 24, 2018 vs. the Sacramento Kings -- 44 points (13-for-26 FG), 13 rebounds, seven assists, two blocks
-Nov. 26, 2018 vs. the Orlando Magic -- 49 points (16-for-33 FG), six rebounds, nine assists, two steals, two blocks
-Nov. 29 at the Toronto Raptors -- 51 points (18-for-31 FG), 11 rebounds, six assists

12) In Game 5 of the Warriors' 2019 first-round playoff series against the LA Clippers, Durant scored 45 points on 26 shots. He followed that performance up with 50 points (15-for-26 shooting) in Game 6.

13) People always will remember Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals as the night Durant tore his right Achilles. Hopefully nobody ever will forget that he scored 11 points in 12 minutes (after being sidelined for nearly five weeks) before sustaining the injury.

Good luck with the rehab, KD. The game misses you.
