Thompson holds several notable NBA records. In January of 2015, he scored 37 points in a quarter to surpass the previous record for points shared by George Gervin and Carmelo Anthony. Thompson put forth a record-breaking performance in Game 6 of the 2016 Western Conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder. He made an NBA playoff-record 11 3-pointers, scoring 41 points to help the Warriors even the series at three games apiece.
He scored career-high 60 points against the Pacers on Dec. 5, 2016. Thompson racked up 60 points despite just 29 minutes and three seconds on the court, and spending the entire fourth quarter on the bench.
In 2018 against the Chicago Bulls, he drained 14 3-pointers, surpassing the NBA single-game record held by Warriors teammate Stephen Curry since Nov. 7, 2016.

Thompson was born in Los Angeles, California, to Julie and Mychal Thompson. His mother was a volleyball player at the University of San Francisco. His father was the first overall pick in the 1978 NBA Draft and played 12 seasons in the NBA, winning two championships with the Lakers. Thompson has two brothers, Mychel and Trayce.
