Welts: Klay's 37-point quarter most memorable moment with Dubs

Rick Welts oversaw a decade of significant success during his tenure as the president of the Warriors, as the team not only won three championships but constructed a new arena in San Francisco and won numerous awards for the organization's innovations on the business side.

Welts announced Thursday that he would be stepping down from his post with the Warriors at the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, after starting in his current role in 2011. Welts joined ESPN's "The Jump," and was asked by Nick Friedell about his most memorable moment from his time with the franchise.

"You know, for me this one's easy. It's Klay Thompson's 37-point quarter against Sacramento," Welts said. "We will never in our lifetime see that again and I got to see it live."

It's hard to blame Welts, as Thompson's record-setting third quarter hasn't been eclipsed since that fateful night in 2015, when he poured in 37 points including nine 3-pointers amid a perfect 13-for-13 effort from the field.

Unfortunately for Welts, his final two seasons with the team didn't include any on-court action for Thompson, who has dealt with two major lower-body injuries and hasn't played in a game since June 13, 2019.

Regardless, Welts and every other person in the building for that 2015 barrage from Thompson won't soon forget it.
