The sports world held its collective breath Tuesday as golf legend Tiger Woods was involved in a serious single-car accident Tuesday in Los Angeles County near Ranchos Palos Verdes.

Woods had to be removed from the car by first responders following the rollover, according to the Los Angeles County officials.

Athletes around the Bay Area and beyond reacted to the news on Twitter, wishing the best for Woods.

Woods' agent, Mark Steinberg, told Golf Digest's Daniel Rappoport that Woods suffered "multiple leg injuries" in the crash.

Woods is a 15-time major champion. He also golfed collegiately at Stanford, where in just two years he won 11 tournaments, which tied a Stanford record.
