Klay set on Chase Center return; Warriors fans ‘deserve it'

Klay Thompson is oh-so-close to making his triumphant return to the court for the Warriors.

The Dubs superstar has missed the past two-plus seasons because of two significant lower leg injuries. In fact, Thompson has yet to play a game at Golden State's new home, Chase Center.

With the Warriors reportedly targeting an early to mid-January return for Thompson, he's set on playing his first game in front of the home crowd.

"Yeah," Thompson told reporters Friday in Denver. "I want to do it in front of our fans. They deserve this. First time in two years, they deserve to see me in a home uni."

He won't come off the bench either, as Warriors coach Steve Kerr said Thursday that Thompson will start in his first game back.

"I'm not going to mess around and bring him off the bench for a period of time," Kerr said. "I'm not doing any of that. He's going to start."

Whenever that happens, it undoubtedly will be one of the greatest moments in Warriors history and a defining game that will help christen a new playoff atmosphere at Chase Center, something the franchise hasn't had since leaving Oracle Arena.
