Klay Thompson has chance to accomplish feat for second time in career

Programming note: Watch the Warriors take on the Heat at 4:30 p.m. PT on Wednesday, streaming live on the MyTeams app.

When you hear the name Klay Thompson, you probably immediately think "incredible shooter," or "most unintentionally funny guy ever," or "lock-down defender," or "China Klay."

It's safe to assume "great passer" isn't what comes to mind. But it's time we give the five-time All-Star some love for his passing ability.

Here are Klay's assist totals over the last four games:
-8 at Portland (tied a career high)
-4 against Kings
-6 against Rockets
-5 at Hornets

It's the first time this season he has recorded five or more assists in back-to-back games. So that got me thinking and I asked myself: "Has Klay ever recorded five or more assists in three straight games?"

After a deep dive into his game logs, the answer is...

...YES!

The two-time All-NBA selection accomplished this "feat" during the 2014-15 season:
-Dec. 2, 2014 = 5 assists against the Magic
-Dec. 4, 2014 = 5 assists against the Pelicans
-Dec. 6, 2014 = 5 assists at the Bulls

So that means history is on the line Wednesday night in Miami, as Klay might make it three in a row for just the second time in his career. This is clearly the biggest storyline of the game and the ratings should be through the roof (you picking up on the sarcasm?).

In case you were curious -- Klay only recorded two assists against the Heat back on Feb. 10. So keep that in mind when you ponder placing a wager on him getting to five assists tomorrow night.
