Klay Thompson

Unless you've been under a rock for the last two years, you know Klay Thompson is champing at the bit to get back to the Warriors.

His goal: Prove that rumors of their demise have been greatly exaggerated.

In fact, Thompson knows the Warriors' run is far from over.

"We can be one of the greatest dynasties—and it's not over," Thompson told Sports Illustrated's Howard Beck. "I truly believe that."

From 2015-2019, the Warriors dominated the NBA, winning three titles in five seasons. Golden State was a historic Cleveland Cavaliers comeback in 2016 and injuries to Thompson and Kevin Durant in 2019 from winning five consecutive championships.

The Warriors have spent the last two seasons recalibrating their dynasty after Durant's exit, but now, as Thompson's return to the court nears, appear ready to once again climb the mountain many believed they would never summit again.

Golden State enters Thursday night's game against the Memphis Grizzlies with the NBA's second-best record at 25-6. The Warriors' hot start has allowed Thompson to take his time finishing his Achilles rehab in order to make sure he is as close to full strength as possible when he steps back onto the court.

Once Thompson's name is removed from the injury list for the first time in over two years, the Warriors' championship core will once again be whole.

And the dynasty finally reignited.
