Klay Thompson's most memorable Warriors game isn't what you'd expect

Klay Thompson is a three-time NBA champion and one of the best shooters in basketball history. The Warriors star has had countless memorable moments during his basketball career, from scoring 60 points on 11 dribbles to exploding for 41 points to rescue the Warriors from elimination in Game 6 of the 2016 Western Conference finals.

However, neither of those take the cake as Thompson's most memorable game. Neither do any of the Warriors' three title-clinching wins. For Thompson, his most memorable game came when the Warriors' backs were against the wall facing James Harden and the Houston Rockets.

"In my career? Man, probably Game 7 Western Conference finals in Houston," Thompson said in a Q&A with fans set up by shoe sponsor Anta. "Because I thought we were a better team than Houston and they really pushed us to the limits. Seven games, we were down 17 points going into halftime and we were very close to losing that title of becoming a dynasty because they were beating us so bad. I was in foul trouble and wasn't playing well until the second half when we really picked it up. I just remember that one because it's so rare that you get a Game 7 and I was so happy how we performed. We really persevered."

Of course, everyone remembers the story. The Rockets led the Warriors three-games-to-two. The Warriors pummeled the Rockets in Game 6 to force a decisive Game 7 back in Houston. A slow start saw the Warriors trail by 11, not 17, going into halftime.

But the Warriors, as they so often did, turned on the afterburners in the third quarter, outscoring the Rockets 33-15 to take a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter. The Rockets couldn't shoot their way out of a cardboard box in the second half, missing 27 straight 3-pointers to watch their best chance at beating the Warriors fall by the wayside.

Thompson scored 19 points in the win, while Kevin Durant poured in 34 and Steph Curry scored 27. The Warriors would go on to sweep the Cleveland Cavaliers to win their third title in four seasons.

It says a lot about Thompson that he chooses a game that wasn't his finest on the hardwood as his most memorable moment. That Game 7 win over the Rockets was arguably the most important of the Warriors' dynasty and it means more to Thompson than any of the impressive offensive explosions he has had in his career.

Although, you'd have to imagine Game 6 against the Thunder is right up there.
