LeBron James, Isaiah Stewart suspended after Lakers-Pistons brawl

LeBron James was suspended for one game, while Isaiah Stewart was handed a two-game suspension for their roles in the Los Angeles Lakers-Detroit Pistons altercation Sunday night.

This marks the first suspension for James in his 19-year NBA career.

James was ejected from Sunday's game after getting a Flagrant 2 foul in the third quarter for hitting Stewart in the face and leaving him with a bloody cut below his right eye. It was just the second time in James' career that he was ejected from a game.

Things escalated as Stewart began to charge at Lakers players multiple times before being restrained by other Pistons players and taken to the locker room. Stewart received a pair of technical fouls, resulting in his ejection.

Neither James nor Stewart spoke after the game.

L.A. was able to come back from a 17-point deficit to beat Detroit 121-116.

The Lakers will have to face the New York Knicks on Tuesday without James after he returned from an eight-game absence Friday due to an abdominal injury. The Lakers have struggled to look like a playoff team in James' absence and went 3-5 during the eight-game stretch he was sidelined.

The Pistons won't have Stewart for their games against the Miami Heat on Tuesday and Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday.

LeBron and the Lakers will face Stewart and the Pistons again on Sunday, Nov. 28.
