Doncic thought 'every' Steph shot was going in during duel

Steph Curry and Luka Doncic

Steph Curry and Luka Doncic brought out the best in one another in a duel in Dallas on Saturday night.

Curry scored 57 points, including 30 in the first half, in the Warriors' loss to the Mavericks at American Airlines Center. Doncic, not to be outdone, had a 42-point, 11-assist double-double.

The two superstars traded buckets in the fourth quarter, and each scored 11 points in the final frame. Doncic made 3-of-5 3-pointers in the fourth, while Curry went 1-of-2. After the game, Doncic told ESPN's Rachel Nichols that's not how he expected things to go down.

"Every time he shot the ball, I thought it was going in," Doncic said. "It was something unbelievable. He's an amazing player. He changed the game and it's always fun to play against him, and today we got a win, but it's always fun to play against him."

Saturday marked just the fourth time in Doncic's career that he has played in the same regular-season game as Curry, and it was the first time both players scored at least 40 points. Doncic is yet to outscore Curry in a head-to-head matchup.

Curry was just five points shy of matching his career high, while Doncic matched his.

With any luck, they'll both have career nights when the Warriors host the Mavericks at Chase Center at some point during the second half of the NBA season.
