Steve Kerr was named the NBA Coach of the Year on Tuesday morning.

He received 64 first-place votes, 18 second-place votes and seven third-place votes.

Luke Walton, who coached the first 43 games of the season in Kerr's absence, led the Warriors to a 39-4 record.

He garnered one second-place vote and two third-place votes to finish tied for eighth with Clippers head coach Doc Rivers.

Walton finished his playing career in 2012-13 and is in his second season with the Warriors.

He has been linked to several head coaching vacancies around the NBA.

"Luke is gonna be a head coach some day, but he's gonna be deliberate about how he goes about it, which is smart," Warriors GM Bob Myers said last week. "He's got good options, I think he'll continue to have good options. He's in a good place."
