Steph, NBA Twitter go wild after McClung’s Dunk Contest showing

The 2023 NBA Dunk Contest might have been saved and it is all thanks to former Warriors guard Mac McClung.

Surrounded by bright lights and NBA stars as far as the eye can see, McClung put on a show, garnering a perfect 50 score on all but one of his dunk attempts on the night. His final dunk of the night, a two-handed 540 reverse slam, brought down Vivint Arena and sent the crowd into a frenzy.

Naturally, NBA Twitter went berserk during and after McClung's win.

McClung also made history Saturday night by winning the dunk contest. His two games played in the NBA are the fewest by any player to win a dunk contest, and he joined Spud Webb as the only player 6-foot-2 and under to get three 50s in the event.

The former Warrior has been known to throw down incredible jams, as evidenced by his between-the-legs dunk during warmups in Golden State's preseason matchups against the Washington Wizards in Japan, wowing the crowd at Saitama Super Arena.

With the hops McClung has, it is easy to see him competing in future dunk contests for years to come.

And considering the show he put on for those in attendance and watching at home, McClung will be the favorite to win any subsequent competitions.
