The 1979-80 Lakers will never play the 2015-16 Warriors. Draymond Green isn't alone in believing you can't compare the two teams, but plenty of others are willing to take the plunge.

Klay Thompson interrupted Green's postgame press conference after Game 2 on Sunday to say: "We're better than the Showtime Lakers."

Thompson's father Mychal -- the first overall pick in 1978 -- was a member of a number of those teams, and he supported his son's claim.

But Magic Johnson isn't willing to cede the crown just yet.

"I disagree with Mychal Thompson and his son Klay, my "Showtime" Lakers would beat the Warriors," Johson tweeted Tuesday morning.

The "Showtime" Lakers won five NBA championships in nine seasons from 1979 to 1987. The Warriors, who recorded the best regular season record in league history this year, are up 2-0 over the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals in pursuit of their second title in as many years.
