Five potential Warriors buyout targets after trade deadline

The NBA trade deadline came and went Thursday with the Warriors making only two minor moves in trading Brad Wanamaker and Marquese Chriss for cash, opening up two roster spots in Golden State. The Warriors (22-22) currently sit in 10th place in the Western Conference and have to start stacking wins if they have any hope of staying out of the play-in tournament. With two open roster spots, the Warriors reportedly are expected to be players in the always over-hyped buyout market. However, most of the big buyout names will choose to go to the top title contenders, hoping to add a ring and parlay that success into the next contract. But you can't discount the allure of playing with Steph Curry and for Steve Kerr. So, here are five potential buyout options Golden State could target.

Andre Drummond and the Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly are working toward a buyout that will see the veteran big man hit the open market soon.

Drummond, 27, is averaging 17.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game this season. The two-time NBA All-Star would fill a need for a Warriors' team in search of front-court depth. But the Warriors are planning to let rookie James Wiseman start for the remainder of the season and it's doubtful Drummond would want to come off the bench for a team that isn't a legitimate title contender.

The Los Angeles Lakers currently are thought to be the favorites to sign Drummond.

LaMarcus Aldridge officially hit the market Thursday when the San Antonio Spurs released him.

The seven-time NBA All-Star isn't the scoring force he was in his prime, but he still would be able to give the Warriors frontcourt depth and scoring off the bench. Aldridge, 36, also would be a dangerous pick-and-pop player to pair with Steph Curry.

The Miami Heat reportedly are expected to be the front-runners to sign Aldridge, but the Texas product will hear offers from a number of teams.

Aldridge is averaging 13.7 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this season while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 36.0 percent from the 3-point line.

The Chicago Bulls traded Otto Porter Jr. to the Orlando Magic on Thursday as part of the deal that sent Nikola Vucevic to Chicago.

Many believed Porter would be a buyout candidate, but he reportedly is expected to play out the season with the Magic at the moment.

Porter, 27, is exactly the type of player the Warriors should be interested in on the buyout market. He's a long, athletic wing who can defend multiple positions, create for himself and shoots 40.0 percent from the 3-point line.

If Porter does hit the market, a number of teams will be interested and I'd expect the Warriors to be one.

Another player who changed addresses Thursday, Bradley was sent to the Houston Rockets as part of the Miami Heat's package to acquire Victor Oladipo.

Bradley has a team-friendly option for next season, so the Rockets could elect to hold onto him. But Houston is rebuilding and has a logjam of guards behind John Wall.

The Warriors reportedly showed interest in Bradley as a free agent and the 30-year-old should interest Golden State as he would give them another good wing defender who can provide floor spacing next to Curry.

If Bradley does hit the market, I'd expect the Lakers to be among the teams interested in the veteran guard.

This is the type of player the Warriors might want to take a flier on in the buyout market.

NBC Sports Bay Area's James Ham reported Thursday that the Kings will release Parker, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

Parker never got going with the Kings after coming over in a trade with the Atlanta Hawks last season. He only saw action in three games for Sacramento this season.

In his last extended action for the Hawks, Parker was solid, averaging 15.0 points and 6.0 points per game while shooting 50.4 percent from the field.

Parker never will live up to the expectations of being the No. 2 overall draft pick, but he still only is 26 years old and could provide scoring pop off the bench.

It wouldn't be a needle-moving signing, but Parker needs to resurrect his career and he still has loads of talent. If the Warriors can tap into that, he could become a nice bench scorer for the stretch run. He is, however, a horrific defender which could give the Warriors pause.
