Report: Warriors interview, work out draft prospect Bouknight

NBA draft prospect James Bouknight reportedly was in the Bay Area on Monday.

Why?

He worked out for and interviewed with the Warriors, both Hearst Connecticut Media's Dave Borges and The Athletic's Anthony Slater reported Monday.

Several mock drafts have Golden State selecting Bouknight with the No. 7 overall pick.

The 20-year-old averaged 18.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals over 15 games at UConn last season, while shooting just under 45 percent overall and 77.8 percent from the free throw line.

Bouknight shot just 29.3 percent from beyond the arc, but he went 5-for-12 against Creighton and 5-for-9 vs. Georgetown.

"I just feel like the role I had at UConn, being that go-to-guy to go get the team a bucket when we need one, I sometimes took ill-advised, tough shots," Bouknight said at the NBA combine. "That came with the role I had.

"I’m not worried at all about my 3-point shot. Like at all. I think I’m going to surprise a lot of people.”

The Brooklyn native is 6-foot-3.5 without shoes on, but he makes up for that with a 6-foot-8.25 wingspan and elite athleticism.

The draft will take place next Thursday, July 29.
