Report: Wiseman ‘does not want' T-Wolves to draft him No. 1

The general consensus among many NBA insiders and pundits indicates the Warriors are most interested in Memphis big man James Wiseman with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA draft, if Golden State indeed elects to keep the selection.

According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, Wiseman would like to be available to the Warriors at that spot, as he apparently "doesn't even want anything to do" with the Minnesota Timberwolves potentially selecting him with the No. 1 overall pick (h/t Clutchpoints' Dave Monaco).

‘“Wiseman does not want to come to Minnesota because Karl Towns is there,” said Windhorst on the "The Scoop" with Darren Wolfson. “From what I understand, Wiseman doesn’t even want to do anything with the Wolves.”

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, as Towns is a two-time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA third-team in 2018. Both Wiseman and Towns primarily play the center position, and neither likely would be as productive in a power forward role.

For the many Warriors fans who hope Wiseman ends up being the selection on Nov. 18, this is more positive reinforcement as draft day nears.

Wiseman could give the Warriors a starting center right away who has many of the skills required of successful NBA big men. Landing with the Warriors also would allow him the opportunity to refine his offensive game without having to be relied on as a primary option in Golden State's scheme.
