Gary Payton II reportedly didn't get good news Wednesday regarding the results of an MRI on his left elbow.
The Athletic's Shams Charania reported, citing sources, that imaging revealed Payton has "slight" ligament damage in his elbow, in addition to the fracture, and that the Warriors' versatile wing will miss at least three weeks.

If the Warriors are able to reach the NBA Finals, Payton's return hasn't been ruled out, Charania reported.
Payton was injured three minutes into the Warriors' 106-101 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals when Dillon Brooks committed a hard foul on a layup attempt that sent the 29-year-old crashing to the floor.
While Payton was in considerable pain, the referees reviewed the play and assessed a Flagrant Foul Penalty 2 to Brooks, resulting in his ejection.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr called the play "dirty" during and after the Warriors' loss, and he said Brooks "broke the code" by fouling a player in a vulnerable mid-air position.

Shortly before the Charania reported news of Payton's MRI, Kerr appeared on 95.7 The Game and provided a brief update on Payton.
"He seems to be doing all right," Kerr told Damon Bruce and Ray Ratto. "We texted earlier and he said he's in a good frame of mind."

The Warriors won't have Payton for the rest of the series against the Grizzlies and likely the entire Western Conference Finals should they advance. It's a brutal blow for a team trying to slow down Ja Morant and the electric Grizzlies.
