The Warriors are filling one of their two open roster spots.
Gary Payton II is signing a 10-day contract with Golden State, according to multiple reports.
Payton averaged 3.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals in 29 games (17 starts) with the Washington Wizards last season, while shooting 41.4 percent overall and 28.3 percent from beyond the arc.
The 28-year-old played in the G League bubble for Raptors 905 earlier this year, averaging 11.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.5 steals in 13 games. He was named G League Defensive Player of the Year.
Back on Feb. 15 against the Santa Cruz Warriors, the man who goes by "GP2" registered 13 points, seven rebounds, two steals, one assist and one block before fouling out in 23 minutes.
The Oregon State product will be under contract through Golden State's game at the Boston Celtics next Saturday. After that matchup, the Warriors will have the opportunity to sign Payton II to a second 10-day contract or go in another direction.
