Like the Warriors, the Miami Heat long have been rumored as a potential landing spot for two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, if he elects to leave the Milwaukee Bucks, either by requesting a trade or eventually signing with another organization in free agency.
Even after a surprise run to the NBA Finals in the Orlando bubble, Miami is preparing to go “all-in” on signing Antetokounmpo in 2021 free agency, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported Saturday citing sources.
Warriors Twitter has been buzzing for months at the idea of Giannis potentially coming to the Bay Area and playing alongside the Splash Brothers. But unless Antetokounmpo chooses not to sign an extension with Milwaukee this offseason, the star won’t be going anywhere.
Obviously a player of his caliber would be coveted by every other NBA fan base, but Giannis has given every indication he will be returning to Milwaukee next season.
But until Antetokounmpo puts pen to paper on a long-term extension with the Bucks, fans across the league will hold onto any sliver of hope that he could be taking his talents elsewhere.
