The Warriors will have plenty of options to choose from when they pick No. 2 overall in next month's NBA draft, and a big guard with a headline-stealing father reportedly has some advocates within the organization leading up to Nov. 18.
LaMelo Ball, the younger brother of New Orleans Pelicans guard Lonzo and son of Lavar, Michael Jordan's hypothetical 1-on-1 opponent, "piques the Warriors' interest," The Athletic's Marcus Thompson wrote last Friday. Thompson noted that "a couple of people in the organization" consider the 6-foot-7 guard "super talented."
Ball, Georgia guard Anthony Edwards and Memphis big man James Wiseman are the three players the Warriors' choice will come down to, according to Thompson.

Ball, 19, played in just 12 games with the NBL's Illawarra Hawks in Australia, averaging 17 points (on 37.5 percent shooting), 7.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists. He's a great ball-handler and passer, with a 6-foot-7 frame that gives him a high ceiling as a versatile defender. Ball needs to tighten up his game on both sides of the court, but he could almost immediately lead the Warriors' second unit as their primary ball-handler and has the potential to be the franchise's focal point as Steph Curry and Klay Thompson age deeper into their 30s.
No matter what his father says, you can envision Ball as a fit in Golden State. So can the younger Ball. You could say the same about any number of players, of course, considering the Warriors' 15-50 record last season -- with Curry and Thompson injured for most of it -- and the sheer tonnage of draft reporting putting forth their potential options.

What the Warriors do will depend upon whom the Minnesota Timberwolves select with the No. 1 overall pick. If you think Golden State's options are legion, imagine Minnesota's in a draft lacking a clear-cut top prospect.

Assuming the Timberwolves don't pick him, Ball reportedly will be an option for the Warriors. Whether or not they take him is anyone's guess until draft night.
