Report: LeBron ‘enthused' by idea of Mark Jackson coaching Lakers

Share

The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t waste any time making moves as soon as their offseason began.

Los Angeles officially announced the firing of Frank Vogel on Monday immediately following one of the most disappointing seasons in NBA history, finishing with a 33-49 record and missing the playoffs

And even though LeBron James got a rare early start to his offseason, he really never stops working.

As usual, his unofficial front office duties reportedly are already underway, and he’s weighing in on potential candidates for the next head coaching position.

“Sources say James would be very enthused by the prospect of Mark Jackson landing the job,” Sam Amick of The Athletic reported. “But as history tells us, that doesn’t mean it will actually happen.”

It's been reported that LeBron was the driving force behind the Russell Westbrook trade that didn’t go the way anyone expected.

LeBron’s voice doesn’t go unheard, but there are other important voices that will lead the talks in this conversation.

Jackson, who coached the Warriors from 2011-14 and helped lead them to their second NBA playoffs in 19 seasons, has also been a name circulating in Sacramento as the Kings are also looking for a new head coach.

Jackson coached Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green in their early days, but was fired after the 2013-14 season after clashes with the front office. Steve Kerr took over the next year, and rest is history.
