Report: Rockets' ask from Dubs for Oladipo a ‘conversation-ender'

The NBA trade deadline is quickly approaching, bringing along the crazy rumors and speculations we have come to expect.

The rebuilding Houston Rockets reportedly are considering shopping Victor Oladipo, who the Warriors have been linked to.

However, it doesn't appear a trade is anywhere near being in the works.

According to The Chronicle's Connor Letourneau, potential trade talks between the two teams have only served as inquiries, as the Rockets return ask for Oladipo is out of the question for Golden State.

"The Rockets would want one of the Warriors’ top assets, the 2021 pick from Minnesota or [James] Wiseman, both of which are conversation-enders for Golden State," Letourneau said.

Understandably so. The Warriors' coveted top-3 protected pick from Minnesota remains of upmost importance to the organization, as does Wiseman. The 19-year-old has experienced his fair share of growing pains in his first NBA season, but remains an important factor to the Warriors success in 2021 and beyond.

Simply put, there is no way the Warriors will part with either.

At 21-20, the Warriors are in a precarious spot before the trade deadline. They could swap assets and make a push for the playoffs. They could elect to focus on the continued development of their younger players an instead aim for a contention window in 2021. Or the Warriors could simply stand pat and hope to sneak in as the final playoff spot.

No matter the choice, it seems Oladipo in a Warriors uniform is something that just won't happen.
