NBA rumors: Warriors to find out draft order sooner with lottery moved

Some news surfaced Tuesday morning that impacts the Warriors.

The NBA moved up the date of the 2020 draft lottery from Aug. 25 to Aug. 20, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

It is unclear at this point why the league made the tweak to the schedule.

Golden State is guaranteed to end up with a top-five pick, and has a 14 percent chance of landing the No. 1 overall selection.

The Warriors still don't know if they will be allowed to meet with prospects face-to-face, or watch them work out in a combine-style setting.

"The difficult part is you can watch film all day long -- and we've been able to do that, and talk and look at the analytics -- but there's still some missing pieces that you'd love to get to see," Warriors general manager Bob Myers said in early June. "Whether that's talking to somebody in person or watching them in person. Usually they visit your facilities.

"When you pick a player in the top five, you get to see them. Yes, the time and the runway is long, but it depends on what you get to do in that amount of time that makes you feel the most prepared. Film is fine up to a certain degree.

"If you were hiring somebody to work with you, you'd want to talk to them in person. It's just part of the process when you make decisions like this. We'll see. I'm hopeful we'll get some opportunity like that."
