Report: Warriors ‘high' on Avdija, Vassell in NBA draft

The 2020 NBA Draft is almost here. Finally.

As the Warriors do their due diligence, we've heard of Golden State being linked to a number of prospects. The Warriors reportedly would like to add some wings to their roster and are "high" on Deni Avdija and Devin Vassell, Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman reported Thursday, citing sources.

The Warriors reportedly were blown away by Avdija during their draft workout. The 6-foot-9 wing is a talented playmaker who can defend multiple positions and has impressive athleticism. He has a high basketball IQ and can be a great passer. His versatility allows teams to initiate the offense through him or let him attack off the ball where he is a talented cutter. Avdija is great in transition and finishes well around the rim. He's a solid shooter with room to improve from 3-point range.

The Israeli forward reportedly would prefer to play for the Warriors as opposed to other teams in the draft lottery.

As for Devin Vassell, the Florida State product is a prototypical 3-and-D wing. Wasserman reports that the Warriors are looking at him in the top-10 but it would seem that picking him at No. 2 is unlikely.

Wasserman reports that the Warriors have their eye on a number of mid-to-late lottery prospects. If the Warriors elect to not trade down in the draft, conventional wisdom would suggest the Warriors would draft either Memphis center James Wiseman or Avdija.

The Warriors reportedly were impressed with Wiseman during his pre-draft workout and the 7-foot-1 center could be the next face of the franchise after Steph Curry.

There's a lot of uncertainty surrounding the top of the draft. With no generational talent, every team's draft board is different. The Minnesota Timberwolves own the No. 1 pick, but they, like the Warriors, reportedly are interested in moving down the board.

Wiseman, LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards are seen as the top-three prospects, and Avdija has been shooting up draft boards as Nov. 18 nears.

It feels like Wiseman is the odds-on favorite if he's available at No. 2, but anything is possible at the moment.
