Report: Warriors close to finalizing trade for Thunder's Oubre

It sounds like Kelly Oubre will be playing for the Warriors this season.

Golden State is close to finalizing a trade for the 24-year old wing, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Oubre had a career year in 2019-20 with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 18.7 points and 6.4 rebounds over 56 games.

He shot 35.2 percent from 3-point range on 5.5 attempts per game, to go along with 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals.

The No. 15 overall pick from the 2015 NBA Draft should be highly motivated to have a big season with the Warriors, as he is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

And he should have every opportunity to produce as Golden State has a big void to fill with Klay Thompson expected to miss the entire season after tearing his right Achilles tendon Wednesday.

It remains to be seen whether Oubre starts or comes off the bench for coach Steve Kerr. We will have a better idea once free agency comes to a close and the dust settles.

The Warriors still have the $5.7 million taxpayer mid-level exception at their disposal, and potentially a $9.3 million disabled player exception.

And don't sleep on Golden State executing a trade or two.
