The Warriors completed their trio of picks in Wednesday night's NBA draft by selecting Justinian Jessup with the No. 51 overall selection.
Jessup likely will be a stash pick this season for the Warriors, The Athletic's Anthony Slater first reported, as the 22-year-old has signed to play professionally in Australia this season. The Warriors might have gotten a steal in taking Jessup at No. 51, as one scout told The Ringer's Kevin O'Connor prior to the draft that he had a first-round grade on the Boise State product, and likened him to one of the NBA's top sharpshooters.
"He called him the draft's Duncan Robinson," O'Connor said of his conversation with the scout on "The Ringer NBA Show." "In terms of questions it does make sense, Jessup went second round because of his defense and athleticism, the lack of defense and athleticism, but the shooting.

"The shooting is sensational, I mean coming off of screens and off of movement."

Over four college seasons at Boise State, Jessup shot 40.8 percent from three, and only shot below 39 percent once, during his freshman season (35.5). Robinson was a revelation for the Miami Heat in 2019-20 after being minimally utilized as a rookie, shooting 44.6 percent from three as Miami made a run to the NBA Finals. Robinson went undrafted coming out of Michigan in 2018.
Jessup will get a full season in Australia's NBL to refine his game with more playing time than he likely would get with the Warriors, and could develop into a tremendous shooting option off the bench in a season or two.

The Warriors have had some luck with second-round picks in recent years with Draymond Green and Eric Paschall both proving to be solid contributors, and perhaps Jessup and Nico Mannion can continue that tradition in the coming years.
