Ron Adams joined the Warriors' coaching staff shortly after Steve Kerr was hired in May 2014.
And he served as an assistant coach on the front of the bench when Golden State advanced to five straight NBA Finals.
Adams took a step back the last two seasons, as he moved away from the sideline and did not travel on every road trip.
That could be changing in 2021-22 with the Warriors undergoing some changes in the coaching ranks.
"Ron Adams is still expected to remain on in some capacity, perhaps even an increased one," The Athletic's Anthony Slater writes. "All the shifting roles and responsibilities haven’t yet been finalized."
Marcus Thompson of The Athletic added more context on the Warriors Plus Minus podcast.
"From what I'm told, there's some talk about Ron Adams getting back in the mix more," he said. "I don't know if it's gonna be front of the bench."
Adams -- who will turn 74 years old in November and specializes in defense -- was widely regarded as one of the very best assistant coaches in the league.
And he just might be sitting right next to Kerr again when the Warriors take the court next season.
